Bengaluru is poised to receive an additional Vande Bharat Express, with the railway board contemplating the introduction of a service connecting Karnataka’s capital to Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu. The demand for this service has persisted due to frequent travel between the two cities. BJP leader and Coimbatore South MLA Vanathi Srinivasan said that the official announcement will come soon, as the Indian Railway is seriously considering the starting of Vande Bharat express between Bangalore-Coimbatore.

The timings of Vande Bharat Express are yet to be announced and currently there is one express train (Uday express) that is running between Bangalore and Coimbatore. The announcement of a Vande Bharat Express between these cities will underscore the significance of timings, as the semi high-speed train is anticipated to be a costly option for daily commuters.

If introduced, it would mark the second Vande Bharat Express connecting Bengaluru with neighboring Tamil Nadu, complementing the existing service linking Chennai, Bengaluru, and Mysore. In November of the previous year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the inaugural Vande Bharat train, marking the first of its kind in South India.

Presently, Bengaluru hosts Vande Bharat Trains servicing Dharwad, Belagavi, Hubballi, Chennai, Mysuru, and Hyderabad. Recently, the Railway Ministry disclosed the extension of the Bengaluru-Dharwad Vande Bharat Express to include Belagavi in North Karnataka, aiming to expedite and improve connectivity between the capital city and the northern regions of Karnataka. The Vande Bharat Express is anticipated to cover the distance from Bengaluru to Belagavi in 7 hours and 45 minutes, establishing itself as the fastest train connecting these two cities within Karnataka.
