The annual Bypass Ganesha Festival at Gauribidanur witnessed yet another record-breaking laddu auction this year. The 20 kg laddu, offered to Lord Ganesha during the celebrations, was auctioned for an impressive ₹4.10 lakh, with Krishna Reddy of Tondebavi village emerging as the successful bidder.

Organized by the Srividyaganapati Youth Group, the laddu auction has become one of the highlights of the festival. Last year, the laddu fetched only ₹1 lakh, but this year’s bidding saw intense participation and a significant rise in the winning amount. Krishna Reddy remained determined throughout the process, consistently raising his bids until he secured the prized laddu.

22-foot tall Pranava Maharudra Ganesha idol

The festival, now in its 22nd year, featured a 22-foot tall Pranava Maharudra Ganesha idol, attracting thousands of devotees and creating a grand festive atmosphere. The laddu auction, regarded as both a spiritual and community event, has grown in prominence with each passing year.

The proceeds from the auction will be directed towards temple development works, reinforcing the festival’s role not only as a celebration of faith but also as a means of supporting local religious infrastructure.
