At a closed-door breakfast meeting in Bengaluru, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar reaffirm party unity, dismissed talk of internal rifts, and outlined plans for upcoming political challenges.
Bengaluru witnessed a significant political development today as Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar held a breakfast meeting at the CM’s Cauvery residence, putting an end to weeks of speculation over internal differences within the Congress leadership.
The interaction took place against the backdrop of persistent rumours surrounding power-sharing and disagreements between the state’s top two leaders. Following their meeting, the two addressed the media together and delivered a coordinated message aimed at reinforcing the party’s collective strength.

Siddaramaiah stated that unnecessary confusion had been created over the past month and clarified that the leadership had already held extensive discussions to clear the air. The meeting today, he noted, focused heavily on the upcoming local body elections and the Congress party’s roadmap to retain public trust. He emphasised that the 2023 election model of working together would continue unchanged, with no differences “now or ever” between him and Shivakumar.
The Chief Minister also addressed preparations for the winter session scheduled in Belagavi. According to him, the BJP and JD(S) are expected to raise allegations and attempt to create political pressure, but the Congress is confident in its numbers and well-prepared with an internal strategy. With 142 MLAs, he said, any move such as a no-confidence motion would not pose a threat.
The leadership further underlined its commitment to the party high command. Both leaders reiterated that they would abide by whatever directions the high command provides, including in matters relating to coordination and communication in the Assembly. Siddaramaiah attributed some of the confusion to media speculation and said the issues had already been resolved through mutual discussion.
Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar highlighted that the Congress government had been working according to its promises and the people’s mandate. He reiterated that the administration continues under Siddaramaiah’s leadership, and that both leaders share identical political positions and strategies. He clarified that no factional groups have been encouraged within the party and that all decisions would be taken in line with high command instructions.
