In a significant development, the Supreme Court today cancelled the bail granted to Kannada actor Darshan, Pavitra Gowda, and five other prime accused in the high-profile Renukaswamy murder case, sending them back to Parappana Agrahara jail.

Darshan was presented before the 64th City Civil Court in Bengaluru
By Thursday afternoon, Bengaluru police had taken into custody Darshan (accused number two), Pavitra Gowda (accused number one), Pradush, Lakshman, and Nagaraj. They were presented before the 64th City Civil Court in Bengaluru, presided over by Justice Eerappanna Pavadi Naik, before being transferred to prison. This marks Darshan’s third stint in Parappana Agrahara — his first was following an assault case involving his wife, and his second in connection with the current Renukaswamy case.
Two more accused, Jagadish and Anukumar, were apprehended in Chitradurga and will be produced before the court on Friday morning.
The case took a legal turn when the Karnataka High Court granted bail to the accused, a decision challenged by the state government in the Supreme Court. A bench comprising Justice J.B. Pardiwala and Justice Mahadevan found procedural errors in the High Court’s order and ruled in favour of the state’s petition.
Following the apex court’s verdict, all seven accused — Darshan, Pavitra Gowda, Pradush, Nagaraj, Lakshman, Anukumar, and Jagadish — are to remain in judicial custody as the trial in the sensational murder case proceeds.
