Fire broke out during CM Siddaramaiah’s Hampi Utsava 2026 inauguration as cracker sparks ignited grass. Firefighters doused flames swiftly

A minor fire incident disrupted the opening of the Hampi Utsava 2026 on Friday night, moments after Chief Minister Siddaramaiah flagged off the celebrations. The accident occurred in front of the main stage where the CM was present, briefly alarming thousands of spectators and dignitaries.

The blaze was triggered when fireworks were set off to mark Siddaramaiah’s arrival. Sparks from the crackers ignited dry grass and nearby objects, producing flames and thick smoke near the stage. Quick response from fire brigade personnel deployed at the venue ensured the situation was brought under control before it could escalate. No injuries were reported, and the program resumed without further disruption.

Siddaramaiah inaugurated the threeup of events. The Hampi Utsava will showcase skydiving demonstrations, bullock cart shows, rangoli competitions, fruit and flower exhibitions, fish fairs, boating, and a symposium on Hampi’s history. Other highlights include a food fair, drone exhibition, rural sports, poetry recitals, kite flying, youth concerts, and folk performances.

The incident underscored the importance of safety preparedness at large public gatherings. Thanks to swift action, what could have been a disaster was averted, allowing the festival to continue in full spirit.
