Siddaramaiah directs officials to update lists every month, remove dead and ineligible names, and plug leakages in state welfare schemes.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has issued strict orders to remove all dead and ineligible beneficiaries from the state’s flagship ‘guarantee’ schemes, directing monthly reviews at the panchayat level.

Chairing a review meeting, the CM said that lists of deceased beneficiaries must be updated every month and shared with banks to stop wrongful credit transfers. He also asked officials to weed out ineligible BPL cardholders and resolve confusion around GST filers claiming Gruha Lakshmi benefits.
The CM further instructed officials to tighten checks under the Anna Bhagya scheme and ensure that free rice is not sold in the black market. The government is also exploring the idea of distributing alternative grains based on regional preferences.

Since 2023, Karnataka has spent ₹97,813 crore on its guarantee schemes, including ₹50,005 crore on Gruha Lakshmi for 1.24 crore women, ₹18,139 crore for Gruha Jyoti benefiting 1.64 crore households, ₹13,903 crore for Shakti used 544 crore times, ₹11,821.17 crore for Anna Bhagya, and ₹623 crore for Yuva Nidhi reaching 2.55 lakh youth.
The move is aimed at ensuring welfare schemes are targeted, transparent, and free from misuse, strengthening public trust in the government’s social initiatives.
