Karnataka Police tighten Holi security with zero tolerance for forced colouring, eve-teasing, and stalking, ensuring safety and harmony statewide
Karnataka’s Director General and Inspector General of Police, M.A. Saleem, has directed all units to adopt a zero-tolerance approach toward misconduct during Holi, with a strong focus on women’s safety and communal harmony.
The order highlights advance deployment in communally sensitive areas and the activation of 24x7 Social Media Monitoring Cells to track inflammatory posts and fake news. Peace Committee meetings are being convened to promote mutual respect among communities.
Dedicated women police personnel will be stationed in marketplaces, educational institutions, and residential zones. Officers have been instructed to act firmly against forced colour application, eve-teasing, and stalking. Special patrols will cover parks and malls to respond swiftly to distress calls.

The directive also enforces Supreme Court guidelines on regulating loudspeakers near religious places. Checks on illicit liquor and narcotics have been intensified to curb intoxication-related disturbances. Quick Reaction Teams and videography coverage will be deployed in sensitive areas to ensure accountability.
Additionally, ‘Holika Dahan’ celebrations must be held only at approved sites with proper fire safety measures. By combining preventive policing with community outreach, the Karnataka Police aim to ensure a safe and harmonious Holi across the state.
