24-year-old Saketh Srinivasaiah, a student at UC Berkeley, has been missing for two days after he was last seen near Lake Anza in California; search operations intensified with drones, divers, and helicopters.
A 24-year-old student from Karnataka, pursuing higher education in the United States, has gone missing in California, triggering an intense search operation. The missing student, Saketh SrinivasaiahSaketh Srinivasaiah , is studying at University of California, Berkeley.
Saketh was last seen on February 12 near Lake Anza, located inside Tilden Regional Park in California. Since then, there has been no trace of him, and he has been reported missing for the past two days.
According to preliminary information, Saketh is suspected to have entered the lake for a swim. During the search, his clothes, footwear, and other personal belongings were found on the lake shore, strengthening concerns about a possible drowning. However, despite extensive efforts, his whereabouts remain unknown.

Local police, park rangers, and trained swimmers have launched an intensive search operation at Lake Anza. Rescue teams are using drones, helicopters, and professional divers, who are scanning both the surface and deeper sections of the lake. Authorities said the operation is being carried out with full seriousness, considering the sensitive nature of the case.
The Consulate General of India has taken up the matter on priority. The consulate is in constant touch with local police and the university administration, closely monitoring the rescue efforts. In an official statement, the consulate said it is coordinating with authorities and providing all possible assistance to the family.
Saketh’s family, originally from Karnataka, is devastated by the incident. They have appealed to the Government of India and the Ministry of External Affairs to intervene and ensure every possible effort is made to locate their son. Friends and relatives are hoping and praying for his safe return at the earliest.
