KEVMDA founder K. R. Venkatesh presented detailed EV policy recommendations to the Chief Minister, urging long-term stability, infrastructure expansion, manufacturing support, skill development, and sustainability reforms.

The Karnataka Electric Vehicles Manufacturers & Dealers Association (KEVMDA) has submitted a detailed memorandum to the state government, proposing key reforms to strengthen and future-proof Karnataka’s Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy. The recommendations were presented by K. R. Venkatesh, Founder of KEVMDA, during a formal submission to the Hon’ble Chief Minister, senior ministers, and government officials.

In his address, Venkatesh thanked the government for providing an opportunity to present the industry’s views. He highlighted Karnataka’s strong position in the EV sector, stating that the state has already emerged as a pioneer in electric mobility, with Bengaluru being widely recognised as the EV capital of India. He also noted the state’s success in attracting significant investment in EV manufacturing and technological innovation.

However, he underlined that the global EV ecosystem is evolving rapidly, and Karnataka must upgrade its policies to maintain leadership. He said this is the right time to enhance and future-proof the state’s EV framework to stay competitive at both national and international levels.

Through the memorandum, KEVMDA proposed practical and industry-driven recommendations, including long-term policy stability up to 2030 and 2040, large-scale expansion of charging infrastructure across urban and rural regions, and stronger manufacturing incentives with focused MSME support.

The association also emphasized the importance of skill development and certification programmes for EV technicians, establishment of battery recycling and sustainability frameworks, and government-led electrification of public and official vehicle fleets.

Venkatesh stated that KEVMDA’s primary objective is to make Karnataka not only India’s EV leader but also a global manufacturing and innovation hub in the electric mobility sector.

He explained that with strong government backing and industry collaboration, Karnataka can generate large-scale employment, attract global investments, significantly reduce pollution and fossil fuel dependence, and empower MSMEs and startups across the EV ecosystem.
