Fresh controversy has erupted over the recent results of the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) Mains examination conducted for 384 posts. Aspirants have raised serious questions over the transparency of the selection process, alleging major irregularities.

The results, announced recently, have shortlisted 1,152 candidates for the next stage, the main interview. A total of 5,760 candidates had appeared for the Mains examination. However, doubts surfaced after it was noticed that more than 15 to 20 candidates who wrote the exam in the same room at a single centre have cleared the test.

Candidates are questioning how such a large number of aspirants from one examination hall could qualify. There are also suspicions that two to three members from the same family have passed, further intensifying concerns. Many aspirants allege that a majority of those selected may not have cleared the examination purely on merit.

ROLL NOS

Some candidates have gone a step further, accusing the involvement of ministers, KPSC members and agents in influencing the selection process. They are demanding a high-level investigation into the entire recruitment procedure before moving ahead with interviews. Aspirants have also urged authorities to constitute a committee first and then continue the process.

The controversy adds to the earlier issues in this recruitment cycle. The notification for 384 posts was issued by KPSC in February 2024. The preliminary examination was conducted on August 27, 2024. However, large-scale protests erupted due to translation errors in the question papers.

Following the protests, KPSC conducted a re-examination for prelims on December 29, 2024. Even in the re-exam, translation mistakes and discrepancies in certain questions were reported. Candidates approached the court over these issues. The court allowed those petitioners to appear for the Mains examination after prelims.

The Mains examination was held from May 3 to May 9 last year. With the declaration of the Mains results now under a cloud, aspirants insist that clarity and accountability are essential before proceeding further.
