The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) is preparing to release the final reservation list for the upcoming GBA elections within the next two to three days. According to information accessed by NewsFirst, the revised list includes significant changes, particularly in women’s reservation.

In the earlier draft reservation list, out of a total of 369 wards, 176 wards were reserved for women. This allocation was below 50 percent, which triggered widespread criticism and objections. It was also noted that in nine wards, women’s reservation had been reduced, further intensifying concerns.

Following the publication of the draft list, the authority received more than 700 objections. A large number of these objections were specifically related to the issue of women’s representation. Several stakeholders demanded that the reservation for women be increased to ensure fair representation.

After reviewing the objections, the GBA has now revised the allocation. In the final reservation list, women have been given reservation in 184 wards, increasing their overall share compared to the draft notification.

Apart from women’s quota, there was also pressure to reconsider the reservation category of certain wards. Based on these demands, the authority has reportedly made changes in the classification of some wards compared to the earlier draft.
