  • Over 6,000 police personnel deployed for security

Mysuru is all set for the grand finale of Dasara festivities — the world-famous Jambu Savari 2025— scheduled to take place tomorrow in the Mysuru palace courtyard. Thousands of visitors from across the country are expected to witness the royal procession, which showcases tradition, heritage, and cultural pride.

At the heart of the procession, Captain Abhimanyu, the lead elephant, will carry the golden howdah weighing 750 kg, with the idol of Goddess Chamundeshwari seated inside. This marks the sixth time Abhimanyu takes up this prestigious responsibility, supported by elephants Kaveri, Rupa, Dhananjaya, Gopi, and others. In total, 14 elephants will participate in the procession.

Timings and Religious Rituals

The celebrations will begin with the traditional Nandi Dhwaja Puja at the auspicious Dhanur Lagna at 1:15 pm. The grand Jambu Savari procession will be flagged off during the Kumbha Lagna between 4:42 pm and 5:16 pm.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who hails from Mysuru, will flag off the event for the eighth time, marking a personal milestone. He will be joined by Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar, royal scion Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, District In-charge Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa, High Court dignitaries, and senior officials.

Cultural Pageantry on Display

Adding grandeur to the procession, over 57 tableaux representing the state’s 31 districts and several government departments will march through the route. Traditional art forms such as Dollu Kunita, Goravara Kunita, Yakshagana, Veeragase, Maragalu, and Keelukudure Kunita will enthrall spectators. More than 140 folk troupes from across Karnataka will showcase the state’s rich cultural tapestry.

Security and Seating Arrangements

To ensure smooth proceedings, a multi-layered security system has been put in place. Over 6,000 police personnel, including 2 DIGs, 27 SPs, 989 DySPs/ACPs, and nearly 5,000 constables and home guards, will be on duty. Special units such as KSRP, CAR, Garuda, ISD, and bomb disposal squads have also been deployed. Additionally, 150 CCTV cameras have been installed along the route.

Inside the palace courtyard, 30,000 seats have been arranged for the public and dignitaries. While last year saw 40,000 chairs, this year the number has been reduced to ensure better crowd management.

Countdown to the Royal Procession

With all preparations complete, the cultural city of Mysuru is brimming with festive spirit. As the clock ticks down, anticipation builds for the majestic Jambu Savari — the crowning moment of Mysuru Dasara 2025 that continues to blend royal legacy, devotion, and Karnataka’s vibrant heritage.
