Joint Action Committee urges government to clear pending payments, start wage revision talks, and withdraw disciplinary action

The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of Karnataka State Transport Employees has written a detailed letter to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, urging the government to immediately address a series of long-pending demands related to salaries, arrears, and disciplinary actions. The committee has sought urgent intervention to ensure financial relief and administrative justice for transport workers across all four state-run transport corporations.

In the letter, the JAC has requested the immediate payment of ₹1,271 crore, which has already been released by the state government, to be disbursed without delay to employees of all four transport corporations. The committee stressed that this amount is crucial for easing the financial burden on thousands of workers who have been waiting for their dues for a long time.

Another major demand highlighted in the letter is the immediate initiation of discussions on wage revision, which has remained pending for the last four years. The JAC has urged the Chief Minister to direct the management of the transport corporations to begin talks at the earliest, ensuring a fair and timely revision of salaries.

The committee has also demanded the payment of ₹521 crore in arrears to all transport employees, including retired staff. These arrears relate to the period from January 1, 2020, to March 31, 2020, and the JAC has insisted that the amount should be cleared without further delay.

Additionally, the letter calls for the immediate withdrawal of disciplinary proceedings initiated during the strike on August 5, 2025. The committee stated that the action taken against employees during the protest has caused mental distress and administrative complications, and appealed for a humane resolution.

By submitting this representation, the Joint Action Committee has appealed for swift decisions on all demands, stating that prompt action would help restore confidence among transport employees and ensure smooth functioning of public transport services across the state.
