Short circuit suspected as cause; fire tenders rush to spot, no casualties reported in Ulsoor Gate police limits

A major fire accident was reported in Kumbarapete, under the jurisdiction of Ulsoor Gate Police Station, Bengaluru, after a hardware shop caught fire early this morning. The incident occurred around 9 am, triggering panic in the busy commercial locality.

According to initial information, the fire is suspected to have been caused by a short circuit inside the hardware shop. Thick smoke and flames were noticed by local residents and shop owners, following which the Fire and Emergency Services Department was immediately alerted. Fire personnel rushed to the scene and began firefighting operations without delay.

Firefighters worked continuously to bring the blaze under control and prevent it from spreading further. However, the fire had already extended to a neighbouring shop, increasing the intensity of the operation. Fire officials said that the operation would take at least another 15 minutes to be fully completed, as cooling and final safety checks were underway.

The incident resulted in heavy material losses, estimated to be worth several lakhs of rupees, as a large quantity of hardware items and stock were destroyed in the flames. Despite the severity of the fire, no injuries or loss of life have been reported, bringing major relief to authorities and the public.

Police personnel from the Ulsoor Gate Police Station reached the spot and are assisting in crowd management and preliminary investigation. Fire department officials confirmed that short circuit remains the primary suspected cause, though a detailed inquiry will be conducted to establish the exact reason.

The swift response by the fire department helped contain the blaze and prevent further damage, especially in the densely packed market area. Normalcy is expected to return once the firefighting and safety operations are fully concluded.
