Two-page letter urges five immediate measures as airspace closures in the Middle East leave thousands of Kannadigas and Indians stuck in Dubai and nearby regions.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has written a detailed two-page letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking urgent intervention to rescue Kannadigas stranded in Dubai and other Middle Eastern regions due to escalating tensions and widespread flight disruptions.
In his letter, the Chief Minister expressed serious concern over the safety of Kannadigas and Indian citizens currently living or travelling across the Middle East. He pointed out that several countries in the region have shut their airspace, forcing the suspension of flight services. As a result, thousands of Kannadigas are reportedly stranded in major transit hubs such as Dubai (UAE), facing uncertainty and distress.
Highlighting the seriousness of the situation, Siddaramaiah appealed to the Union Government to ensure the safe return of all stranded citizens at the earliest. He emphasized that immediate action is necessary to protect lives and prevent humanitarian hardship.

Five Key Measures Demanded by the Chief Minister
In his communication, Siddaramaiah urged the Centre to implement five crucial steps to manage the crisis effectively:
1. Indian embassies and consulates in affected countries must provide continuous guidance, protection, and support to Kannadigas and Indians in distress.
2. If the situation worsens, special evacuation flights should be arranged to safely bring stranded citizens back to India.
3. A dedicated task force should be formed involving the Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of Civil Aviation, and state governments to ensure coordinated and swift action.
4. A centralized digital platform must be developed to identify stranded individuals and provide timely updates to their families in India.
5. Airlines should allow ticket rescheduling and cancellations without penalties, offering relief to passengers affected by flight disruptions.
The Chief Minister stressed that rapid coordination and clear communication are essential to manage the evolving situation and reduce panic among families.
