Drunken attack in Thirthahalli’s Thuduru village leaves young woman critically injured; accused arrested after dramatic escape attempt.
A shocking incident of attempted murder was reported from Thuduru village in Thirthahalli taluk of Shivamogga district, where a young man, enraged by rejection of his love proposal, broke into a woman’s house and brutally attacked her using a beer bottle.
The accused has been identified as Swaroop, a resident of the same village. Police said he had been harassing the victim, Apoorva, for nearly six months, repeatedly forcing her to accept his proposal. Despite her clear refusal, Swaroop allegedly continued to threaten her, warning of dire consequences.
On Tuesday evening, Swaroop, reportedly under the influence of alcohol, stormed into Apoorva’s house. When her mother, Poornima, tried to stop him, he pushed her out of the house and locked the door from inside. He then attacked Apoorva with a beer bottle, stabbing her repeatedly on the neck, stomach, and back, causing severe bleeding.
