Rahul Dravid's tenure all set to end soon

SRK not willing to let Gambhir go?

With incumbent coach of the Indian men’s cricket team Rahul Dravid hanging up his boots once the T20 World Cup is over, the search for a new coach has become more intense.

Former Indian cricketer and KKR mentor Gautam Gambhir, who helped his team lift the trophy again, is the frontrunner for the post.

Sources inform NewsFirst Prime that Jay Shah, BCCI secretary and Gambhir had a long chat after the final of the IPL 2024 in Chennai. Such a chat has given rise to speculations that Shah is extremely interested in his candidacy.

Reports also suggest that the deadline for applying for the post is over, but Shah is willing to make an exception to accommodate Gambhir for the role.

Shah Rukh, the thorn in the flesh?

Interestingly, even as Shah has made the offer, KKR owner Shah Rukh is not willing to let Gambhir go. Reports state that he has given him a blank cheque, in an obvious bid to retain him and his services for the KKR.

With the victory, Gambhir has established a robust rapport with the team and his impact on the players is deep-rooted.
