Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed in UAE for the grand temple opening on February 14. As he gets ready for the historic moment, here are a few highlights of the temple. 

  • The temple’s foundation stone-laying ceremony took place in April 2019. It showcased the traditional Nagar style of architecture.
  • Constructed with 1.80 lakh cubic feet of pink Rajasthan sandstone, 50,000 cubic feet of pristine white Italian marble, and 18 lakh bricks, the temple reaches an impressive height of 108 feet, crowned with seven shikhars representing the seven emirates of the UAE. this is one of the most interesting and inspiring features of the temple. 
  • Surrounding the temple are intricately crafted ghats and elements representing the holy rivers Ganga and Yamuna.
  • Two central domes, named the ‘Dome of Harmony’ and the ‘Dome of Peace,’ adorn the temple’s architecture.
  • The entrance features eight murtis symbolizing the foundational values of Sanatana Dharma.
  • Carvings of earth, water, fire, air, and plant life on a dome depict human harmony and coexistence with nature.
  • The temple complex, spanning 13.5 acres, functions as a cultural hub with facilities like a visitors’ center, exhibitions, prayer halls, learning areas, sports facilities for children, a food court, thematic gardens, and a book and gift shop.
  • Seven shrines within the temple honour deities from various parts of India, including Lord Ram and Sita, Lord Hanuman, Lord Shiva and Parvati, Lord Jagannath, Lord Krishna and Radha, Shri Akshar-Purushottam Maharaj, Lord Tirupati Balaji, and Lord Ayyappa. Each shrine showcases exquisite carvings reflecting the life and teachings of the respective deities.
