The announcement with regard to the 2024 election has been made. The 7-phase election will begin on April 19th. The results will be declared on June 4th. As far as Karnataka is concerned, the election will be held in 2 phases. South Karnataka will vote on 26th April. North Karnataka will vote on May 7th. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced candidates for 20 constituencies across Bengaluru. 

The Janata Dal (Secular)  (JD(S)) leader H.D Kumaraswamy met the Minister of Home Affairs of India Amit Shah to discuss the 3 seats which are being offered to the party by virtue of the alliance. Kumaraswamy travelled to Delhi for this purpose. President of the JD(S) youth wing Nikhil Kumaraswamy, BJP candidate for Bengaluru Rural C.N Manjunath and Anusuaya Manjunath also accompanied him. 

Kumaraswamy is reported to have requested Amit Shah to campaign in favour of C.N Manjunath in the Bengaluru Rural district. Amit Shah is said to have assured Kumaraswamy that Bengaluru Rural is one of the constituencies that he would personally monitor. 

Discussions to field a JD(S) candidate in Chikkaballapur supposedly took place. However, Amit Shah is speculated to have requested Kumaraswamy to contest from that seat. Kumaraswamy is believed to have cited health issues at this juncture. An announcement in this regard can be expected in a day or two.
