The Election Commission of India is holding a presser to declare the election dates for Lok Sabha 2024. Even as the presser is going on, here are a few staggering numbers you should not miss. 

  • 96.8 crore voters
  • 49.7 crore male voters
  • 47.1 crore women voters
  • 1.8 crore first-time voters
  • 88.4 lakh persons with disabilities
  • 19.1 lakh service electors
  • 82 lakh voter are 85+ years old
  • 48,000 transgender voters
  • 19.74 crore young voters (20-29 year olds)
  • 2.18 lakh centenarian voters

The current tenure of Lok Sabha ends on June 16. The new government must be in place by then. The Election Commission is taking all possible measures to ensure the elections are free and fair.

Rajiv Kumar, Chief Election Commissioner urged all voters to get inked. He added that the EC will deliver an election that will add to our global shine.

This time, 48000 transgender people will cast their votes. As many as 82 lakh voters are aged above 85. 2.18 lakh voters are aged above 100. If there are more than 40 people with disabilities, they will be given the facility to vote from home.

97 crore registered voters more than combined voters of different continents to vote this time. 1.5 crore election staff to hold the elections.
