    P.C Mohan won 3 times

Mansoor's lead is greater than 80,000

BBMP elections are scheduled to take place

The Bengaluru Central constituency was formed in the year 2008. Portions of Bengaluru which were earlier included in the Bengaluru North and the Bengaluru South constituency were added as the city expanded. This seat was held by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ever since its formation. P.C Mohan had won on 3 occasions. However the margin was slender on 2 occasions. There were speculations in 2019 that actor Prakash Raj contesting as an independent candidate resulted in the Indian National Congress’ (INC) margin having come down.

In 2024, Mansoor Ali Khan was the candidate from INC. he has a reputation in the education field. As per early trends, his lead is greater than 80,000. His outreach among the christian voters ahead the election is believed to have played a role in his good performance. There were complaints about the lack of availability of P.C Mohan during his tenure as a Member of Parliament (MP).

It is in fact interesting to note that in the urban seats of Bengaluru, INC had not won any seat in the 20th Century. With the BBMP elections scheduled to take place shortly, this would indeed be a boost for the grand old party.
