Indian National Congress (INC) candidate Sowmya Reddy began her nomination process through a rally. She was joined by Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar who addressed the gathering. He recollected the Legislative Assembly Election wherein Sowmya Reddy after initially being declared a winner lost during recounting. “In a demonstration of how officials can cheat people, a person who was already declared as a winner was said to have lost elections. It has come to my knowledge that the officials in charge have admitted their mistake to Ramalinga Reddy. Today, you have the authority. With your help, Congress has won 136 seats and implemented the guarantees which were promised before elections. Probably, no other government has been able to keep up their promise in this manner. We are not practising the politics of emotion but rather a politics of livelihood. To help people of all classes, we have spent close to Rs 52,000 crore. We have given 6 women tickets across Karnataka. Many were upset that I was not made the Chief Minister. However, 8 people belonging to the Vokkaliga community have been given tickets for the first time in Karnataka. We have given tickets to youngsters, scholars and field experts,” DK Shivakumar said.
