    Election Commission of India announces dates of Lok Sabha Elections 2024

    The elections will be held in 7 phases starting from April 19

    Counting of votes and results will be announced on June 4 (Tuesday)

Election Commission of India announced dates of Lok Sabha Elections 2024 at a presser held a while ago in New Delhi. The total number of seats are 542, of which 84 seats are reserved for SCs and 47 for STs.

Here’s the schedule:

The elections will be held in 7 phases starting from April 19. Counting and results will be announced on June 4 (Tuesday). In Karnataka, elections will be held in 2 phases. First phase voting will be held on April 26 and second phase on May 7.

1st Phase: 19th April

2nd Phase: 26th April

3rd Phase: 7th May

4th Phase: 13th May

5th Phase: 20th May

6th Phase: 25th May

7th Phase: 1 June

Facilities at polling stations:

In a bid to enhance the voting process, the Election Commission is set to provide a range of amenities at each polling station. These amenities encompass drinking water, restroom facilities for both genders, wheelchair access, and ramps.

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar unveiled these provisions during a press briefing to announce the Lok Sabha election dates a while ago. He emphasized that all 10.5 lakh polling stations nationwide will feature additional amenities, such as voter facilitation centers, helpdesks, signage, shelters, and adequate lighting. Mr. Kumar referred to these as “essential minimum facilities.”
