Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Over 4,400 senior citizens and disabled individuals vote from home in Bengaluru

    7,556 senior citizens aged 85 and above opted to vote from home

    Of the 30,693 persons with disabilities, only 302 chose to vote from home

    Saturday's turnout accounted for 56.74% of the total votes cast

More than 4,400 senior citizens and disabled individuals exercised their voting rights from the comfort of their homes in Bengaluru.

This initiative commenced on Saturday and will span five days. The voting process encompassed all Lok Sabha constituencies within BBMP limits, including Bangalore North, Central, and South, as well as the Bengaluru Urban area.

Officials diligently reached out to voters across various regions, except for Padmanabhanagar, to ensure their seamless participation. This home voting exercise will be on until April 18.

Out of the 113,108 senior citizens aged 85 and above in the city, merely 7,556 opted to vote from home. Similarly, out of the 30,693 identified persons with disabilities, only 302 chose this option, resulting in a total of 7,858 registered home voters.

BBMP Central zone recorded the highest number of home votes with 1,337, followed closely by BBMP South zone with 1,313. BBMP North zone saw 985 home votes, while the Bangalore Urban region, encompassing Mahadevapura, Dasarahalli, and Anekal, witnessed 824 home votes. Saturday’s turnout accounted for 56.74% of the total votes cast.
