Yaduveer Wadiyar, the king of Mysore to be given a BJP ticket?

He is to contest the Lok Sabha elections 2024 from Mysuru

Pratap Simha likely to renounce his seat to Yaduveer Wadiyar

With speculations rife that Yaduveer Wadiyar, the king of Mysore to be given a BJP ticket to contest the Lok Sabha elections 2024 from Mysuru, his mother Pramoda Devi has countenanced his candidacy.

She was on a pilgrimage to Kashi. After her arrival, she sat down with the king and held long deliberations, culminating in her approval.

Pratap Simha to be axed?

If reports are to be believed, Pratap Simha, the incumbent MP from the constituency will be axed. The saffron party is looking at massive gains as it tries to field Yaduveer.

However, a final decision has not been taken yet in this regard. Prime Minister Modi, who heads the committee finalizing candidates is yet to look into the issue. On his part, a visibly upset Simha has openly denounced his candidacy.

Elections not new for Wadiyars

While Yaduveer fancies his chances, Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar had contested the elections as many as six times. In 1984, 1989, 1996, 1999 he contested the elections on a Congress ticket and successfully entered the Lok Sabha.

Even as we file this copy, it is expected that the BJP will announce the second list of candidates by this evening. Sources inform that as many as 12 MPs will be shown the door.
