Speculations are rife that AICC general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, absent from active electoral politics for nearly five years, might contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

She is rumoured to contest from Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh, a stronghold represented by her mother, Sonia Gandhi. Her mother, a seasoned political figure, is speculated to enter the Rajya Sabha fray, with reports hinting at her contesting from Rajasthan.

This purported change in tactics coincides with the Congress party grappling with challenging prospects in Uttar Pradesh. Calls have emerged for Priyanka Gandhi Vadra to focus on organizational strengthening rather than contesting. Suggestions are also that Rahul Gandhi should contest from Amethi as there is a perceived disinterest from Smriti Irani.
