Kumaraswamy held a press conference in Padmanabhanagar

Kumaraswamy expressed his dissatisfaction with the central leadership

The major point of contention is the Kolar constituency

Former Chief Minister of Karnataka H.D Kumaraswamy held a press conference from former Prime Minister Deve Gowda’s residence in Padmanabhanagar. He expressed his dissatisfaction with the central leadership over their inability to finalise the seat sharing arrangement for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)- Janata Dal (Secular) (JD(S)) alliance in the 2024 Lok Sabha Election.

Although Kumaraswamy reaffirmed that the alliance was on track for the time being, there are issues they are facing. Kumaraswamy and Devegowa were not a part of the rally PM Narendra Modi held in Kalaburagi and Shivamogga. The JD(S) feels that the BJP hasn’t been able to contain former MLA Preetham Gowda in Hassan. Talks held with Sumalatha for the Mandya constituency have not gone well. The major point of contention is the Kolar constituency which the JD(S) feels is their home turf. Dr C.N Manjunath would be contesting from the BJP as opposed to JD(S) in the Bengaluru Rural constituency. Meetings pertaining to seat sharing are getting delayed. JD(S) leaders were not consulted before the announcement of the candidate list by BJP. Joint meetings of JD(S) and BJP party workers haven’t taken place. Only time will reveal if the alliance is able to resolve differences.
