Congress spokes Gourav Vallabh quits party, joins BJP

He is unhappy over 'directionless Congress

He is also unhappy over 'sanatana dharma' remarks

With the Lok Sabha voting dates coming closer, the grand old party Congress, can’t control the exodus of its members to the BJP.

Party spokes and head of campaigning for Mallikarjun Kharge, Gourav Vallabh bid goodbye, alleging that the party is ‘directionless’.

At the same time, he expressed his displeasure at the way ‘sanatana dharma’ was being ferociously maligned by the party.

“I do not feel comfortable with the directionless way in which the Congress party is moving forward today. I can neither raise anti-Sanatana slogans nor abuse the wealth creators of the country. I am resigning from all posts and primary membership of the Congress party,” he declared on X.

It may be recalled that Gourav Vallabh had made his poll debut in 2019. It was in Jharkhand’s Jamshedpur East. There he bagged over 18,000 votes but ended up in third spot behind then-sitting chief minister Raghubar Das and Saryu Roy.

Double whammy

This comes just days after Vijender Singh, an Olympic medallist severed his links with the Congress.

India will vote from April 19 to June 1 in a seven-phase election.
