Disgruntlement wide open in Karnataka Congress

Several leaders upset over probable ticket being issued to Muniyappa's son-in-law

5 MLAs, 2 MLCs threaten to resign

With Lok Sabha elections round the corner, the intra-party argy-bargies in Karnataka Congress has hit a crescendo.

As many as 5 MLAs and 2 MLCs have threatened to resign over the issue of ticket distribution.

It is being said that the son-in-law of KH Muniappa, the Food and Civil Supplies minister may get a ticket from the Kolar constituency.

Now, such a possible move has split the grand old party wide open, with MLCs Naseer Ahmed and Anil Kumar openly rebelling against it and offering to resign. Sources inform us that they have even sent their resignation letters to Council Chairman Basavaraj Horatti.

Additionally, it is also learnt that MC Sudhakar too is offering to resign. In this regard, it is being said he met UT Khedekar, the Assembly Speaker.

All the disgruntled leaders say that they can’t be a slave to Muniyappa’s family.

In an exclusive conversation with India Today TV, Karnataka Higher Education Minister Dr MC Sudhakar, who was among the MLAs, claimed the other MLAs said they “cannot be a slave”.

“We cannot be a slave to the (Muniyappa) family,” they said, alleging, the party distributes tickets within the family.

High command silent?

Party sources also inform that the high command was apprised of the opposition to the ticket issuance to Muniyappa’s son-in-law, but it has remained questionably silent.

It might be recalled that the second list of Congress’ candidates was released last 21. The party has issued tickets to children of five ministers.
