Expressing his discontent, Khan wrote a letter to party chief Mallikarjun Kharge, highlighting the absence of Muslim representation among the candidates fielded by the Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) bloc. “From a total of 48 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra, MVA has not nominated a single Muslim candidate,” Khan lamented in his letter.

Khan, who was vying for a ticket from Mumbai North Central, was overlooked in favor of Varsha Gaikwad. His disappointment extends beyond personal ambition, reflecting a broader concern regarding the Congress party’s departure from its inclusive ideology.

“The party has deviated from its inclusive ideology and giving representation to all communities,” Khan stated, emphasizing the disillusionment among minority groups and party workers over the lack of inclusivity in candidate selection.

As Khan steps down from the Maharashtra Congress Campaign Committee, his resignation underscores the urgency for the party to address concerns regarding minority representation and reaffirm its commitment to inclusivity.
