BJP got close to 50% of funds: Kharge
Kharge demanded an inquiry into the transactions
How can we fight elections and where is the level playing ground?: Kharge
The President of the Indian National Congress (INC) Mallikarjun Kharge lashed out at the BJP Government at a press conference held a day after the ECI published data pertaining to the sale and purchase of electoral bonds on its website. “The Prime Minister Narendra Modi said “Naa Khaunga, Naa Khaaane Doonga.” ( I won’t take a bribe nor will let others). The Supreme Court has exposed how money was made through electoral bonds. State Bank of India (SBI) data shows that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) got close to 50% of funds. The INC got only 11%. In the voting pattern we have received close to ⅓ rd. How can they get this much money? How can the capitalists or other companies give such donations? There are many dubious donors. People who have donated are either involved in an Enforcement Directorate (ED) case or an Income Tax (IT) Department case. The IT and ED raid their houses and ultimately the government of India, Modi and his party pressured these people to give more donations to their party (sic),” Kharge said.
Mallikarjun Kharge demanded an inquiry into the transactions pertaining to electoral bonds. “Congress Party’s money was frozen and seized. More than 300 crore of INC was seized. How can we fight elections and where is the level playing ground? They got more than Rs 6000 crore. I demand an inquiry of the highest level and unless the truth comes out, their accounts should be freezed. It should be investigated whether they got the money by giving favours and by making threats (sic),” Kharge mentioned.
