Kannada TV Serial director Vinod Dondale committed suicide. He had worked in the industry for close to 20 years. His close friends and relatives rushed to his residence upon being informed of this development.
Director P. Sheshadri who was a close friend of Vinod spoke to NewsFirst in light of this development. “He apparently told his wife, ‘when my mentor made films, it did not run into loss. I should have followed suit. I have made a mistake. I learnt many things from him but did not develop the knack to direct films at a low budget.’ Many people are indirectly responsible for his death. They wouldn’t be punished in a court of law,” Sheshadri said.
Sheshadri also used the opportunity to throw light on the challenges within the Kannada Film Industry. He talked about the lack of institutional support for filmmakers. “There should always be forethought. If someone who has risen up the ranks is investing crores of rupees in a project, it is not an ordinary occurrence. I would still say that this is a very rewarding field. I have worked in the industry for 30 years. We should however be careful with each step we take,” Sheshadri added.
