Bollywood actress Sharmin Segal has had a tough time navigating her media interaction ever since she was on the receiving end of trolling by a section of netizens for her performance in Heeramanadi. Her performance was deemed as lifeless by a segment of the audience. Sharmin however provided a defence to this by stating that she was influenced by veteran Bollywood actress Meena Kumari’s performance in Pakeezah which was released in 1972 to portray a certain sense of ‘nothingness.’ Meena Kumari’s stepson Tajdar Amrohi however did not agree with her on this point. “Nobody can make ‘Pakeezah’ again. Neither Meena Kumari nor Kamal Amrohi can ever be born again. I don’t want to say much about this since Bhansali is a big fan of my father Kamal Amrohi. In every film of his, Bhansali tries to take shots in a very similar way as my father did. Once, he had come to Kamalistan Studio, he asked where my Dad used to sit, where my Dad walked. Out of great respect, he touched the ground where my Dad sat. That was 15 years ago, and after that I never met him again. I don’t know Sharmin.  But no, I can’t relate to her statement on nothingness,” Tajdar said in an interaction with Zoom.
