Dr B.N Gangadhar has been nominated as the Chairperson of the National Medical Commission (NMC) by the central government. This is a matter of pride for all Kannadigas. 

Dr B.N Gangadhar has been awarded the Padma Shri award in the past. He has served as the President of the Medical Assessment and Rating Board. The tenure of Dr S.C Sharma who served as the Chairman before Dr B.N Gangadhar came to an end in September 2023. Dr Sanjay Bihari will replace Dr B.N Gangadhar as the President of the Medical Assessment and Rating Board.

Dr Sanjay Bihari had earlier served as the Director of the Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology located in Thiruvananthapuram. Dr. Anil D’Cruz has been appointed as a whole-time member of the Post-Graduate Medical Education Board. Dr. Anil D’Cruz, was the Director (Oncology) of Apollo Hospital, Mumbai prior to his appointment. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) also announced that Dr. Rajendra Achyut Badwe serving as the Professor Emeritus at the Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai has been appointed as a part-time member of the Under-Graduate Medical Education Board. He would serve in this position for a period of 2 years.
