In a series of remarkable seizures at Mumbai’s airport, the Customs department has thwarted multiple smuggling attempts, unearthing a trove of concealed valuables collectively valued at ₹6.46 crore. The crackdown led to the arrest of four individuals after the seizure of over 6.8 kg of gold, worth ₹4.44 crore, and diamonds valued at ₹2.02 crore over the weekend, as per an official release issued late Monday night.

Among the intercepted passengers, an Indian national bound for Bangkok was discovered smuggling diamonds cleverly hidden within packets of noodles concealed inside his trolley bag. The individual was promptly apprehended following the discovery, marking another blow against illicit trafficking operations.
In another audacious attempt, a foreign national arriving from Colombo was found carrying gold bars and a cut piece, totaling 321 grams, concealed within her undergarments. The vigilant customs officials swiftly acted to prevent the smuggling endeavor.
Furthermore, the authorities intercepted 10 Indian nationals, including travelers from Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Doha, Riyadh, Muscat, Bangkok, and Singapore, who were found carrying 6.199 kg of gold, valued at ₹4.04 crore. The contraband was hidden in various manners, including within the rectum, on the body, and inside baggage. Subsequently, three individuals were arrested in connection with these smuggling attempts.
