In a rare love story from Japan, a younger man tied the knot with his classmate’s mother, overcoming age gap objections and winning over family with gestures of commitment.
Love knows no age, and a remarkable example has emerged from Shizuoka, Japan. Isamu Tomioka, 33, recently married Midori, 54, the mother of his former classmate, creating headlines for the unusual age gap and family dynamics.

Isamu first met Midori during school parent-teacher meetings while attending classes with his friend. Over the years, their paths crossed occasionally, but a strong connection blossomed during an accidental meeting at a beauty salon. By then, Midori had divorced, opening a new chapter in her life.
The couple faced strong opposition from Midori’s family, who stressed the 21-year age difference and urged her to consider someone closer in age. To demonstrate his commitment, Isamu purchased a 38 million yen (~₹2.26 crore) residence, assuring the family of a stable life together.
