Trade unions call Bharat Bandh tomorrow against Centre’s farm and economic policies. Ten major unions, backed by farmers and employees, will strike
India is set to witness a nationwide strike tomorrow as the All India Confederation of Trade Unions, along with 10 major central trade unions including CITU, AITUC, INTUC, HMS, AICCTU, LPF, and UTUC, have called for a Bharat Bandh. The strike is aimed at protesting the central government’s agricultural and economic policies, as well as the implementation of four new labour codes.
The unions have received strong backing from farmers’ organizations such as the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), along with bank, insurance, and state and central government employees’ unions. Factories across India are expected to halt operations, while the Joint Action Committee of trade unions has prepared for massive demonstrations in key cities. In Karnataka, the Committee has already issued notice to the Labour Department.

The strike follows a high‑voltage meeting between the Labor Minister and trade union representatives today at Vidhan Soudha, scheduled for 11 am. The government attempted to convince unions and find a solution to workers’ demands, but union leaders have confirmed that the strike will proceed as planned, stressing that it is a collective call by the All India Trade Union.
The unions are opposing the labour codes implemented on November 21, 2025, with draft rules published in the Gazette on December 30, 2025. The Karnataka government has also published the codes and sought public opinion, but local labour organizations remain firmly against them.
With widespread participation expected, tomorrow’s Bharat Bandh is likely to disrupt industries, transport, and public services nationwide.
