Stampede triggered by Vijay’s delayed arrival

The tragic incident occurred when tens of thousands gathered in Karur for the TVK rally, waiting in the blistering heat. Tamil Nadu DGP G Venkataraman confirmed that the stampede was triggered by Vijay’s delayed arrival. He noted that the crowd, waiting for hours without sufficient food or water, became restless as the official Twitter account of Vijay’s TVK party announced his arrival by noon. The crowd surged, leading to the stampede.

In a separate incident, a bomb threat was reported at the residence of TVK chief Vijay in Neelankarai, Chennai. Authorities cordoned off the area and conducted a thorough search, but no explosives were found. A detailed investigation is ongoing.
