Delhi Police have detained Umar Mohammad’s mother and two brothers for questioning after the Delhi blast, as forensic teams confirm a DNA test to verify the bomber’s identity.
In a major development in the Red Fort blast investigation, Delhi Police have detained three family members of the suspected attacker, Umar Mohammad, including his mother and two brothers, for intensive questioning.
Officials suspect Umar Mohammad, a resident of Pulwama district, to be the individual who carried out the car explosion near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro station. The explosion, which set multiple vehicles ablaze, is now being treated as a possible terror attack.

According to investigators, forensic teams have launched a DNA test to confirm the bomber’s identity after human remains were recovered from the damaged vehicle. The car, a Haryana-registered Hyundai i20, was reportedly driven by Umar alone. CCTV footage from the area has shown a single occupant behind the wheel moments before the blast occurred.
Authorities are now probing whether Umar, a doctor by profession, was associated with any militant group in Kashmir. Early leads suggest possible involvement of individuals linked to the banned organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed. The Delhi Police’s special cell, along with national investigation agencies, is examining communication and travel records connected to Umar’s network in Pulwama.

Security agencies have intensified vigilance across the capital as forensic and intelligence teams continue to piece together the larger network behind the attack.
