After a sweeping win in Bihar, the NDA shifts its political focus to West Bengal as Prime Minister Narendra Modi declares the next major battle of the saffron camp.
The NDA has scored an extraordinary and decisive victory in Bihar, pulling the state firmly back into its fold and dismantling the hopes of the Mahagathbandhan. The result has been described as unprecedented, with the NDA crossing the double-century mark and delivering a crushing blow to the Congress-RJD alliance.

As celebrations unfolded across party offices, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed supporters in Delhi and called the verdict a historic turning point. He pointed out that it had taken 25 years for the BJP to return to power in Delhi, and now Bihar had shown a similar wave in favour of the NDA. Modi declared that the coalition’s next political destination would be West Bengal, sending a clear message that the BJP is preparing for a major contest there.
Using a vivid metaphor, the Prime Minister said that the Ganga flows from Bihar to Bengal, suggesting that the surge of support seen in Bihar would now carry forward into West Bengal. He promised that the party would work with the people of Bengal to eliminate what he referred to as “jungle raj” and bring in a new model of governance.
Modi also revealed what he believes powered the NDA’s sweeping win: the M+Y formula- Mahila (women) plus Yuva (youth). According to him, women voters and young citizens were central in deciding the mandate and stood firmly by the coalition’s agenda. The NDA leadership viewed this as a signal that their welfare programmes and development promises had resonated strongly with these groups.

On the other hand, the opposition was left shocked by the magnitude of the defeat. The Congress-RJD alliance, which had expected a significant advantage due to promises of guarantees and free benefits, saw its plans collapse completely. In the aftermath, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi criticised the election process, claiming irregularities and expressing disappointment with the outcome. He reiterated that the fight to protect the Constitution and democracy would continue.
The BJP, however, has already shifted gears. With victories in Maharashtra, Haryana, Delhi and now Bihar strengthening its confidence, the saffron camp is now eyeing the upcoming elections in Assam, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and especially West Bengal.
