Rs 3,000 pass covers 200 trips or 1 year — valid across NHAI toll plazas from Aug 15

From August 15, 2025, the National Highways Authority of India will roll out a new FASTag Annual Pass designed especially for private vehicles like cars, jeeps, and vans.

Under this plan, you pay ₹3,000 just once, and that covers either 200 toll plaza crossings or one full yearfrom the date of activation, whichever comes first. The aim is simple: make toll payments easier for frequent travellers and cut down long queues at toll booths.

What makes this different from the regular FASTag?

Normally, you have to keep topping up your FASTag wallet whenever the balance runs low. But with this annual pass, the amount is prepaid and linked directly to your existing FASTag. No extra tag, no extra steps, and each time you pass through an eligible toll plaza, one trip is deducted from your total.

Now, where will it work?

This pass will only be valid at toll plazas managed by NHAI and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways on national highways and expressways. It will not be accepted at toll booths on state highways, local roads, or for commercial vehicles.

If you want to buy the pass, the process is entirely online. You can go to the official NHAI website, the MoRTH website, or use the Rajmarg Yatra mobile app. You’ll need to log in or enter your vehicle registration and FASTag details, confirm that your FASTag is active and correctly installed on your windshield, and then make the ₹3,000 payment through UPI, debit card, credit card, or net banking.

Here’s something important: No matter when you purchase it, the pass will be activated only on August 15, 2025. From that date onwards, it will remain valid until you’ve used all 200 trips or until a full year passes, whichever comes first.

When the limit or validity ends, your FASTag will automatically switch back to the usual pay-per-use mode. The pass is non-transferableandnon-refundable, meaning it’s tied to your registered vehicle only.

To help users keep track of usage, NHAI will send SMS alerts after each toll deduction, showing how many trips remain.

Officials believe the FASTag Annual Pass will speed up toll transactions, reduce congestion, and encourage cashless, contactless travel, making long highway drives smoother for lakhs of private vehicle owners across India.
