A deadly car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort has shaken the nation, leaving nine people dead. As multiple agencies probe the blast, PM Modi will chair a high-level meeting on national security.
Delhi witnessed horror as a car explosion near the historic Red Fort on Monday left nine people dead and several others injured, marking one of the most devastating attacks the national capital has seen in recent years. The explosion, which occurred near the Red Fort Metro Gate, tore through the area, damaging vehicles and sending shockwaves across the country.
Authorities confirmed that eight investigative agencies, including intelligence and forensic teams, are probing the incident. A preliminary report has already been submitted to the Union Home Ministry, outlining the nature of the explosion and possible suspects.

In the aftermath of the blast, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who returned from his Bhutan visit, will hold a marathon high-level security meeting in Delhi today. The meeting, chaired by the Prime Minister, will include Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and senior security officials. The agenda focuses on tightening national security and assessing intelligence failures, if any.
Meanwhile, President Droupadi Murmu, currently abroad, held a phone discussion with Home Minister Amit Shah to review the situation and seek updates on the investigation. The government has declared a nationwide security alert, with states directed to heighten vigilance at key installations and public spaces.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced ₹10 lakh compensation for the families of the deceased, ₹5 lakh for those left permanently disabled, and ₹2 lakh for the seriously injured.

As the investigation deepens, shocking details have emerged about Umar, a lab technician at a medical college, who is alleged to be a key member of a terror network. Officials revealed that he had experimented with Ammonium Nitrate Fuel Oil inside his laboratory, indicating that he may have been testing explosives prior to the attack.
