A day after nine people were killed in the Red Fort car blast, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking from Bhutan, said the government will uncover the conspiracy and ensure justice for the victims.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday issued a strong warning to those responsible for the Red Fort car blast that killed nine people and injured 20 others in Delhi on Monday evening. Speaking during his visit to Bhutan’s Thimphu, the Prime Minister said the “conspirators will not be spared” and assured that all agencies are working round the clock to trace the network behind the explosion.

“Our agencies will get to the bottom of this conspiracy. Those behind this horrific act will not be spared,” the Prime Minister said in Hindi, adding that the tragedy had “saddened the entire nation.” He said he had been in constant contact with officials throughout the night to monitor the situation.

The blast, which occurred at 6:52 pm near the Red Fort Metro Station, ripped through a white Hyundai i20, killing passengers and damaging nearby vehicles. The car’s owner, Umar Mohammad, a resident of Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir, is suspected to have been driving the vehicle when the explosion occurred.

Switching briefly to English during his address, PM Modi delivered a firm message aimed at the global community: “All those responsible will be brought to justice.”

The Prime Minister’s statement comes just months after his similar warning following the Pahalgam terror attack. Then, too, he had vowed that India would “identify, track and punish” every terrorist and their supporters.

“We will pursue them to the ends of the Earth. India’s resolve against terrorism is unshakable,” he had said at the time, reaffirming the nation’s zero-tolerance stance on terror.

As Delhi remains under high alert, security forces are coordinating with the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to uncover possible links between the Red Fort blast and other terror modules recently busted in Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir.
