PM Modi lays foundation stone for Namma Metro phase 3, calls for building Bengaluru as a future-ready city

Modi recalled the swift elimination of terror camps within hours of the major terror attack in Pahalgam. He credited Bengaluru’s role in Make in India, particularly in developing defence technologies used against enemy nations.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, after laying the foundation stone for Bengaluru’s Namma Metro phase 3 project at IIIT in Bengaluru, opened his address in Kannada with a tribute to Karnataka’s rich culture, language, and love. He sought the blessings of Bengaluru’s revered deity Annamma and remembered the city’s founder, Kempegowda, praising his vision that continues to shape the city’s progress.

Acknowledging the people and talent of Bengaluru as key drivers behind its position on the global map, the Prime Minister urged collective efforts to build the city for its future.

Modi noted that this was his first visit to Bengaluru since Operation Sindoor, and he recalled the swift elimination of terror camps within hours of the major terror attack in Pahalgam. He credited Bengaluru’s role in Make in India, particularly in developing defence technologies used against enemy nations.

Expressing gratitude to corporate giants such as Infosys, Biocon, and others, Modi lauded their contribution to the Yellow Line metro project. He reiterated that the government’s Reform, Perform, Transform policy was instrumental in making India one of the world’s fastest-growing economies.

Infrastructure milestones during PM Modi's regime

Highlighting infrastructure milestones, he said India now stands as the third-largest country in terms of metro network coverage. Over 40,000 km of railway lines have been electrified since 2014. The number of operational airports has more than doubled—from 74 before 2014 to over 160 today. Similarly, the count of AIIMS institutions has increased from 7 to 22, and medical colleges from 387 to 704.

In housing, Modi reported that 4 crore houses have been provided under government schemes, with 3,000 more to be distributed soon. Exports have grown from $468 billion before 2014 to $824 billion today.

Calling for collective growth under the Viksit Bharat vision, he said the government is committed to empowering the poor and bridging the gap between citizens and administration through technology. He emphasized prioritizing indigenous technology to achieve Atmanirbhar Bharat.

Modi concluded by asserting that both the state and central governments would continue working for the progress and prosperity of the people, regardless of political lines.
