The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have not had a good start to their tournament. Their prospects were seemingly improving in the game against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Eden Gardens although they eventually lost by one run. The dismissal of RCB batsman Virat Kohli was a point of controversy in the game. Virat Kohli was deemed out on a waist high full toss delivery which he contested as a no ball. This led to an argument with the umpires and a visibly upset Kohli.

Former Indian batsman Navjot Singh Sidhu spoke in defence of Virat Kohli during an interaction on Star Sports. Justice means the truth must come out. I am here not just for Virat Kohli but for RCB too. “When you’ve made a rule by bringing a 6-inch height-based ideology, did you give the batter a 7-inch allowance? That is number one. Number 2, the biggest point. You legalised a beamer. During my 30 years of playing and watching cricket, if a bowler missed a yorker and bowled a waist-high delivery, the batter would be left bamboozled and the bowler would apologise. If tomorrow a batter steps out and the ball is targeted on his head, won’t you even apologise for legalising a beamer,” Sidhu said.
