The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has alleged that CM Siddaramaiah’s wife has benefited from the alleged irregularities that have surfaced in the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA). They have also claimed that the amount pertaining to the alleged scam extends into thousands of crores in rupees.
CM Siddaramaiah has decided to take action amidst mounting pressure. A one-member enquiry committee consisting of retired Justice P.N Desai will look into the allegations that have come to the forefront. An order to this effect was passed by the Under Secretary to the Karnataka Government Nagaraj B.S. The committee will provide a report of its enquiry within 6 months.
NewsFirst had reported about the 50:50 ratio followed for land allotment by MUDA. In light of the NewFirst Report the Karnataka Government had transferred certain officers and commissioners related to MUDA. An investigation under the leadership of Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers was also ordered in this regard after the NewsFirst report was available for public consumption.
CM Siddaramaiah has refuted the allegations of any misdeed in relation to the allotment of property to his wife. He highlighted that the said deal had occurred at a time when the BJP government was in power in Karnataka.
