In what comes across as a crucial development, the suspects in Rameswaram Cafe blast case, Adbul Matheen Taha and Mussavir Hussain Shazeb have been located in their hideout close to Kolkata and subsequently apprehended by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) team. Mussavir Hussain Shazib is the accused who placed the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at the café and Abdul Matheen Taha is the mastermind behind the planning, execution of blast and subsequent evasion from the clutches of law. 

Their detention took place during the early hours of 12th April. The suspects were hiding under false identities. The NIA received assistance from Central Intelligence agencies and State Police agencies of West Bengal, Telangana, Karnataka, and Kerala police during their operation.

The baseball cap worn by the suspect aided the investigation. On March 1st, the suspect entered the Rameshwaram Cafe with a cap. It is supposedly a baseball cap. Furthermore it is a branded limited edition cap. In South India, it is only available in retail stores and through online purchase. The cap has a serial number attached to it. The suspect purchased the cap in a mall in Tamil Nadu. He was accompanied by another individual while making the purchase. The CCTV visuals of the day he made the purchase was procured by the NIA. Their faces were clearly visible in the CCTV visuals.
