NIA questions 2 Bengaluru-based persons for possibility of being in contact with Rameshwaram Cafe Blast suspect

    Individuals were taken into custody on the evening of 23rd March

    NIA has collected crucial information pertaining to the suspect

    NIA sources have maintained that the individuals were not arrested

The search for the suspect in the Rameshwaram Cafe Blast by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is underway. Information and clues pertaining to the location of the suspect is being collected by the NIA. Certain individuals have been taken into custody on the suspicion they came in contact with the suspect. 2 Bengaluru-based persons have been interrogated with respect to this. They were taken into custody on the evening of 23rd March and an intensive enquiry followed thereafter. Reports indicate that  the NIA has collected crucial information pertaining to the suspect. NIA sources have maintained that they were merely questioned and not arrested. 

Earlier, the identity of the suspect was established as Shivamogga-based Musavir Hussain Shazib. The cap sported by the suspect while planting the cap eventually led the NIA to uncover Musavir’s identity. The baseball cap was a limited edition product whose sales were recorded across India. Musavir had purchased the cap from a mall in Tamil Nadu. The CCTV visuals from that day cast light on Musavir as being the suspect who was being hunted by the NIA. Musavir is believed to have boarded a bus headed to Kalaburagi from Bellary and gotten in between at the Hanumaghada Junction.
