Speaking after the announcement, Nikhil said, "After long deliberations by leaders of both BJP and JD(S), I have been chosen as the consensus candidate for the Channapatna bye-elections." He added that, with only 20 days left before the elections, he would be filing his nomination papers the following day.

Nikhil also outlined his vision for the constituency, stating, "I have taken up state tours. I have to do something for the people who have worked for the party. I will be a voice for the voiceless." His candidacy represents a strategic collaboration between the BJP and JD(S) as they aim to secure the seat.

Meanwhile, the Congress has fielded CP Yogeshwar as its candidate, highlighting its seriousness in the race. Yogeshwar’s nomination comes just a day after he officially rejoined the party. With both parties gearing up for a competitive contest, the Channapatna bye-election is set to be a high-stakes political battle.
