78-year-old Anil Varshney worked with Parsons Corporation

On September 26th 2022, he made a call to bid farewell to his dying brother-in-law Mr. K.C Gupta

Company pursued a charge of security violation against him

78-year-old Anil Varshney worked with Parsons Corporation, a missile defence corporation based in Huntsville. He was a senior systems engineer. He was associated with the organisation for quite a long time.

On September 26th 2022, he made a call to bid farewell to his dying brother-in-law Mr. K.C Gupta. He ensured that there were no classified documents containing confidential information about the company anywhere near him while taking the call, according to the legal suit he is now pursuing against the company. He was asked by a colleague if it was a video call and he affirmed that it was. He was told that this is not permissible and he obliged.

However the company still pursued a charge of committing a security violation against him. One week later, he was discharged from his position, and also blackballed from positions related to the Missile Defence Agency (MDA), in effect ending his career, as per his suit. He claims that no investigations were carried out and that there was no policy mentioned against video calls unless during confidential meetings. He claimed that the colleague was intimidated because he spoke in foreign language.

The company has however denied all allegations. Varshney was in the past, also a recipient of the “Contractor of the year” award and had received a letter of recommendation form the MDA stating that his expertise had saved them 5 million dollars.
